JEFF ROCHE WINS 8TH TITLE AT THUNDERBOWL

Jeff Roche hung on to win his 8th title in the opening tournament in the 2010 season of the
Budweiser Michigan Majors at Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park.
Roche had to battle his way through in the championship for a 210-193 win over Dale
Hofmeister.  Roche held a comfortable 31-pin lead after 7 frames.  He then opened the door
a crack with a wide open split in his 8th frame. Hofmeister needed to strike out in his final two
frames. He could only get one strike in his 9th frame.
Randy Warnken was the leading qualifier as he paced the 96 entrants with a 1545 six game
score.  There were
three 300 games in the qualifying by Hofmeister, Terry Haines and Eddie
Grace.

Warnken in the opening match of the stepladder final started with five strikes then coasted
in with a 221-214 win over Eddie Grace.
Warnken had a wide open split in his 3rd frame to give Roche a 24 pin lead which Roche
held on to for a 247-220 win.
Roche in the semi-final match closed with 5 strikes for a 234 –214 win over Terry Haines.
Hofmeister was dejected as he was seeking his 15th title, which would have tied him with
Dick Beattie for most titles won the 43-year history of the Michigan.
Roche just had a big smile and was just happy to win his 8th title as he started out on the
Right foot in quest of his 2nd Bowler of the year award.  He last won in 2007
