                               WARNKEN PREVAILS FOR 4TH TITLE

Randy Warnken won his 4th Budweiser Michigan Majors title at Plaza Lanes in Plymouth.
Warnken defeated the #1 seed Jeff Roche 279-194. “This was a weird game,” said
Warnken.  “I knew it was going to be a tough match the way Jeff was bowling. He deserved
much better as he threw all balls in the pocket and never had a double,” said Warnken.
Roche was the leading qualifier with a 1588 score, a 265 average, for six games.
Warnken had the only 300 game in the qualifying round.
The opening match two members reaching the stepladder finals for the first time. It was no
contest with Trey Raynes rolling a 300 game to 156 for Ken Ulicny.
The next match came down to who would blink first as they traded strikes.   Raynes started
with a spare in his 1st frame then strung 7 strikes. Dave Tulak, a MMBA Hall of Famer had 4
strikes, spare, 4 strikes.  Raynes blinked as he left 2 ten pins in his 9-10 frames.  Tulak also
left a 10 pin in his final frame but struck on his final toss for a 258-257 win.
What a difference a game makes as Tulak never got untracked in the semi-final match.
Warnken had an easy 225-179 win.
Warnken said, “this was pay back.”  “Jeff had defeated me four strait times. The last time
earlier this year at Thunderbowl when I was the leading qualifier.”
Roche just shrugged his shoulders. “This happens I guess, I just couldn’t carry like I did in
the qualifying rounds.
The next tournament will be held on May 15 at Nortel Lanes in Monroe.
