RANDALL WINS 3RD TITLE AT FIVE STAR LANES
Matt Randall of Allen Park waded through three matches to win his third title at
Five Star Lanes in Sterling Heights. “I got a couple of breaks when I needed
them,” said Randall. Yes, but he also made good shots when he needed them.
The leading qualifier was Aaron Lorinz with a 1443 score. Aaron is a three time
winner in the Michigan Junior Masters Association. Although he faded a little in
the three game semi-final to place 9th, it was a good outing to earn some
scholarship money. Erik Stanley, another MJMA bowler placed 12th.

Randall used one of his breaks with a high strike in the middle of two strikes to
keep him in the game. Randall then closed with five strikes to eliminate Schultz
246-214.
Randall had another one of his breaks when h came up light leaving two pins. A
pin rolled around knocking both over in the middle of 7 strikes. Randall won the
match 256-236 when Trey Raynes needing three strikes to win by one pin left a
10 pin on his first toss.
The championship match went right down to the final frame against the #1 seed
Jeff Edwards. Randall had a chance to win the match with two strikes in his 10th
frame. He left a 10 pin, spare for a 237 game. Edwards now needed a strike for
the win. He left a split for a 223 game.
Randall said, “My dad comes to almost all the tournaments. He has missed all
three times I have won. I will just tell him to stay home and I’ll call the results.”
